Recently, I have been plagued by a tendency to buy old dresses from the 50´s cheap off of ebay. I don’t want them for myself, they are all really tiny (I guess that’s why no one else ever bids on them) and I’d have to like loose half of my body weight and surgically remove a couple of ribs to fit into them. But they are all so pretty that I want to own them, to keep in my closet like big pieces of artwork made of tulle and old perfume.
But nevertheless, I wanted to use this dress for a photo session so when Sanna came back into town in the beginning of summer I called her and begged and pleaded for her to pose for me as a birthday present. She was kind enough to agree, and on my very birthday she showed up at my parents' house, where we halfway managed to squeeze her into the dress of doom and while my sister obscured the blazing sun with an old umbrella she made pretty poses in front of the various pretty plants in my parents’ garden.
This photo was one of the first colour photos I copied myself, in the colour copying machine that my sister and me has finally got up and running in the dark room. It's really amazing to finally be able to get exactly the colours and skin tones I'm after.
This is also the second test run with my new medium format camera, which I’m beginning to love.

No photoshop, except from dust removal due to my lousy scanner.
Ooo!!!! I thought I was the only one who bought tiny tiny dresses on eBay that I would never fit into in a million years!!! (I don't limit myself to 50's, however...I also do late Victorian, Edwardian, and 20's. ) Luckily--many of my models are young girls--early teens--and they DO fit--so I have an excuse to buy more.
This is a terrific shot--love the desaturated colors--all but her eyes, which are rich a deep...the soft light on her face--almost shadow free--the look on her face--the angle of the shot--it's all just fantastic, and I wish I'd thought of it first! BRAVO!!!!

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

This angle is great for her face--her eyes are amazing.
And I love the depth-of-field here, too.
